NEC IC Microcomputer Systems Standardizes on Novas’ Debugging System Debussy selected to debug digital and mixed-signal designs

San Jose, Calif., USA, October 24, 2000 Novas, the leader in debug systems for complex chip designs, announced today that it has signed a 3-year license agreement with NEC IC Microcomputer Systems, Ltd. Under the terms of the agreement, NEC IC Microcomputer Systems is using Novas’ Debussy® Total Debug system as its standard debugging solution for digital and mixed-signal designs.

Debussy improves engineers’ productivity by reducing the time required to understand complex designs at the register transfer, gate and behavioral levels and by automating the location and isolation of design bugs. “We evaluated many options for debugging and selected the Debussy system because it is the fastest way to understand the reasons for bugs in our complex designs,” said Masatoshi Sou, Senior Manager, Design Systems Development Department at NEC IC Microcomputer Systems. “Debussy works with our simulators and gives us so many ways to look at the design that our engineers can easily discover how to fix the problems uncovered by during verification.”

“Debugging is the most expensive thing that electronic designers do today,” noted Kathleen Leavitt, vice president of marketing for Novas. “The Debussy system gives companies like NEC IC Microcomputer Systems an edge because they can cut the time needed to solve problems and spend more time adding value to their designs.”
